Boothroyd Dewhurst Releases "DFMA 2025A" Software

EAST GREENWICH, R.I., USA, March 25, 2025 - Boothroyd Dewhurst Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of DFMA 2025A, the latest version of its industry-leading Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) software. This release delivers a range of powerful new features and enhancements designed to improve user productivity, streamline workflows, and further simplify cost analysis.

Among the key highlights is the introduction of Dynamic Cost Agent for Injection Molding, an intelligent feature that automatically determines which design inputs significantly affect cost outcomes and hides inputs with minimal impact. This capability, previously known as “Dynamic Costing,” has been rebranded to better reflect its smart, agent-driven approach. The updated tool makes the analysis process faster and more intuitive for users.

A new Injection Molding Process-Specific Report provides detailed information on material usage in the runner system, processing costs, and tooling investments, all tailored to the specific part being analyzed. A Simulation Window and Report further enhances transparency by presenting key parameters—such as clamp force requirements and injection/ejection temperatures—through an interactive mold cutaway view.

DFMA 2025A also expands the capabilities of Dynamic Cost Agent for Machining, initially launched in DFMA 2023A under the “Dynamic Costing” name. Users can now apply the Dynamic Cost Agent for Machining as a secondary process within existing cost models, allowing for a more flexible and layered analysis of real-world manufacturing scenarios.

A major advancement in licensing is the introduction of Cloud-Hosted Licenses, eliminating the need for client-side license servers and greatly simplifying subscription renewals and software updates.

Users will also benefit from an English/Metric Toggle Button on the toolbar, enabling seamless unit switching at any point in the analysis. In addition, DFMA files used in DFA analyses can now be stored as tabs within a single DFM file for better organization.

Further improvements include unlimited Dashboard searches, editable variable descriptions in the DFA/DFM operation libraries, conditional display of custom cost data, improved search performance, updated toolbar icons, a consistent machining interface, and various bug fixes.

“We’re thrilled about the new capabilities in DFMA 2025A,” said Nick Dewhurst, President of Boothroyd Dewhurst. “Our mission has always been to streamline and elevate the cost-modeling process, and this release marks a significant step forward—especially for widely used manufacturing techniques like injection molding.”
